Detroit Red Wings plays host to Pittsburgh Penguins in the second and final game between the two
The first game of Monday will be played at the Joe Louis Arena as Detroit Red Wings plays host to Pittsburgh Penguins.
This will be the second and final meeting between the two teams during the course of the 2011 regular season.
The last game that they played was on the 18th of January 2011, which saw Penguins coming out very strong and scoring goals every now and then to win the game 4-1 in the end.
Both the teams have been coming up with decent performances during the course of the season and they are assured of a spot in the playoffs unless their form drastically falls and they lose consecutive games.
However, there are still a lot of things that need to be decided when it comes to the positions in the both the Conferences.
This game will be a reminder of the 2009 Stanley Cup Final between the two sides.
The final standings in the Conferences at the end of the season would decide if this can happen once again or not.
Penguins will be eagerly waiting to learn as to how their star players in Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin are doing ahead of Penguins going into the playoffs.
Penguins have done a decent job in the absence of the backbone of the franchise in the two players. They are in the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference and still have a chance to the reach the top.
It seems highly unlikely that Penguins would see the two players returning but if they continue to do what they have been doing so far then they have a good chance of moving on.
Penguins in the absence of these players have seen all the players taking responsibility and coming up with responsible performances.
Penguins have played 72 games during the course of the season out which they have won 41 games in regulation time and eight games in overtime to score a total of 90 points.
On the other hand, Red Wings have played 72 games as well out of which they have won 43 games in regulation time and eight games in overtime to score 94 points.
Red Wings have been in great form during the season and it looks that all they could manage is the second spot in the Western Conference. Their recent form has cost them a lot as they trail Vancouver Canucks by nine points to the top.
However, it is likely that they will clinch their Division but not the Western Conference.
Pavel Datsyuk has been the main weapon for Red Wings but when he was missing against the Nashville Predators in the last game, Red Wings had to face a 3-1 loss.
He is still out with an injury which will give Penguins a good chance of notching up a few important points.
