Detroit Red Wings plays host to the Edmonton Oilers in their fourth and final match of the season
Another one of Friday’s game will be hosted by the Detroit Red Wings as they face the Edmonton Oilers at the Rexall Place.
This will be the fourth and final game between the two sides.
Out of the three games that have taken place so far during the season, the Red Wings have been the dominating force in the series so far as they have won each of the three meetings comfortably.
The Red Wings were on a good run in the season but the last few games have seen them lose ground on the league and Conference leaders, Vancouver Canucks.
Red Wings have lost their last four consecutive games and trail the Canucks by nine points.
Oilers will be playing the third game on a four-game current road trip.
Oilers were starring to string some good performances and won three consecutive games.
However, things have changed once again as the last placed team in the Eastern Conference has lost its last two games once again.
Oilers in their last game gave two goals in power plays and then three more in the final 20 minutes of play to lose the game 5-0 against Washington Capitals.
"We did not manage the game well because we didn't manage the puck well." coach Tom Renney said. "This is one of those games you don't like talking about in March," he said. "I can see maybe the first half of year, but this is March now. I don't care who
we're playing and how they're touted, the thing is we have to play our game and tonight we deviated in a big way from that. And that's disappointing."
Oilers have played 68 games during the season so far out of which they have won 23 games in regulation time, eight games in overtime to score a total of 54 points.
On the other hand, the Red Wings have played 67 games during the season so far out which they have won 39 games in regulation time and eight games in overtime to score 86 points.
The last few games have been disappointing for the Red Wings as they lost to the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 in overtime this Tuesday and in their game against the Los Angeles Kings they lost 2-1 once again.
"I thought the third period was a muddy track, like you expected against a team that is checking and you're working and you're pushing," coach Mike Babcock said. "It was a tight game, we had every opportunity to win the game, we didn't find a way. We've
just got to keep playing like that and starting like we did and getting pucks ahead and shooting pucks and going to the net."
