Detroit Red Wings plays host to the Los Angeles Kings in their fourth and final meeting this season

One of the important games of Thursday will be hosted by Detroit Red Wings as they play host to Los Angeles Kings.
This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two sides during the course of the regular season.
Kings dominated the first two games and won them, 3-2 and 5-0.
However, in their most recent game which was played on the 28th of February, Red Wings came up with brilliant performance that saw them winning the game by 7-4.
After the loss to Red Wings, Kings have been hurt a lot as they have dropped quite a lot of points in March which has seen them dropping to the final play-off position in the Western Conference.
Red Wings, on the other hand, had a disappointing end to their five-game road trip which started off with a decent two out of two wins. However, after this they have been very disappointing as they scored only a point out of the last six possible.
Red Wings will be facing Kings after a long three days break.
The last game during their road trip against Phoenix Coyotes was totally dominated by Red Wings as they lead 4-1.
However, a sudden shift in momentum coupled with very poor display of ice hockey saw the losing the game 5-4 after shootout. Their defence was very weak in the final period as they allowed three goals in the final period.
"Obviously that last game against Phoenix didn't go the way we wanted it when we have a 4-1 lead," forward Justin Abdelkader told the Wings' website. "We don't want to give the lead up like that, and hopefully we can move forward and be a better team from
it."
Both teams have played 66 games during the course of the season. Red Wings have won 39 games in regulation time and eight games in overtime scoring a total of 86 points.
On the other hand, Kings have won 36 games in regulation time and five games in overtime to score a total of 77 points.
Though many expected Kings to score vital points as they played six games on home ice, they weren’t able to come up with the expected performance.
Kings managed to win only three games in regulation time and lost two games while scoring a point in one game.
This hurt them a great deal and dropped them to the eighth and final spot in the Western Conference.
They are now on a four games road trip out of which they have played two games. They lost the first one 3-2 to Vancouver Canucks on Saturday and lost the second 3-2 to Dallas Stars in overtime.
"This time of year, you want to get two points," center Anze Kopitar said. "Especially to just hand them out like that, like we did [against the Stars], it's not the way to go obviously, especially with everything being clogged up from fifth to the 10th
spot. You just can't afford to lose those types of games."
