Detroit Red Wings square off against the Nashville Predators
Detroit Red Wings will host the 810th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series as the will up against the Nashville Predators. This will be the fourth time the two teams met out of the six times they are scheduled to face each other.
Out of the three meetings so far, Nashville Predators have won the last two meetings 3-2 and 3-0 comfortably. The first game was won by the Detroit Red Wings which saw them absolutely dominating the proceedings and winning 5-2 in the end.
The team’s last match which was played this past Saturday was won by the Predators who had an opportunity to gain on the Red Wings as they faced the Edmonton Oilers in their next game. However, they didn’t match their previous performance as the Oilers dominated
the game and bagged goals on regular intervals to win the 4-0 in the end.
On the other hand, Detroit Red Wings after tasting defeating this weekend were up against New York Rangers. The game was very tough but the Red Wings with their combination and strong offensive play managed to win. The encouraging thing about the Red Wings
was the fact that their star player, Pavel Datsyuk returned after missing 19 straight games. This would give the home team a physiological advantage as Datsyuk scored the winning in the first meeting between the two sides.
On his return, Datsyuk started from where he left of scoring a goal and making and important assist. The win increased the point gap in the Central Division and extended the lead to seven points on the Predators.
Nashville Predators are going through a tough time which has seen them losing five out of their last six games. They still hold the second spot in the Central Division. The reason for this is the fact that the teams below them in Hawks, Blue Jackets and
St. Louis Blues aren’t coming up with particularly good results. The last game saw them losing against the struggling Oilers came a shock for many as they couldn’t score even a single goal.
Pikka Rinne, goal keeper of the Predators only allowed 12 goals in his 14 appearances but recently he has allowed four goals out of the 20 goals fired on his goal. Currently, Predators have played 54 games out which they have won 28 games in regulation time,
7 games in overtime scoring 63 points. Detroit Red Wings after a great middle part of the season have scored 70 points playing 53 games. Red Wings have won 32 games in regulation time and another 6 in overtime.
Detroit Red Wings have been doing well so far in the season and unless something changes drastically and they start to lose game after game then they won’t make it into the play-offs. They are in good shape ahead of the game and things are looking to get
even better.
Red Wings were facing some problems but with the return of Pavel Datsyuk in the team, the Red Wings looked very strong on the offence. Datsyuk will surely have an important role to play in the game and if he clicks, then expected the Red Wings to notch up
a win.
