Detroit Red Wings win 6-1 against the Boston Bruins
The first game of the Friday saw the Boston Bruins play host to the Detroit Red Wings. The game took place at the TD Garden and was the 821st game of the season. A capacity crowd was present to witness the game which saw both teams play the 55th
game of the season.
Boston Bruins made a great start to the game firing shots right from the start and successfully established two goals lead to their advantage. Though Boston Bruins pulled once back but the Red Wings with their constant attacks successfully bagged four more
goals to emerge as 6-1 winners of the game. Pavel Datsyuk, centre of Red Wings was named the star selection of game with his two assists during the game.
Though the game was expected to be pretty much even at the start, things turned out to be different. Detroit Red Wings didn’t give the opposition any space and with the strong offence they score in the 2nd minute to get into the lead. The goal
was scored by Todd Bertuzzi from a quick fired and well placed shot.
Red Wings continued to pile pressure on the Bruins and silenced the home crowd as they scored in the 4th minute once again through Dany Cleary’s decent strike. After the goal both teams waited for chances to come and spaces to develop. This didn’t
happen early on but as the period neared end both teams started to get stronger offensively. This time it was the Bruins who scored through David Krejci in the 18th minute to cut the lead to a goal.
The period ended with a few more goal attempts with Red Wings leading 2-1. During the period Red Wings made 12 goal attempts while Bruins made 7 goal attempts.
Red Wings were again quick out of the blocks at the start of the second period and successfully early on to regain two goals to their advantage. The away side bagged the goal through Jiri Hudler in the 2nd minute from a superb shot.
Bruins started to attack as well and emerged as the stronger of the two teams in the period firing shots on goal regularly. Though it looked that Bruins would score but this didn’t happen. In fact, it was Henrik Zetterberg who scored for the Red Wings in
the 17th minute from a brilliant backhand shot.
The hopes of any comeback were completely shut as Red Wings successfully scored once again in the same minute through Todd Bertuzzi who bagged his second goal for the night. Bruins ended the period making a few more goal attempts but failed to find the back
of the net.
The period ended with Red Wings leading 5-1 and they made 7 goal attempts in the period while Boston Bruins made 11 goal attempts.
Red Wings absolutely exploded at the start of the final period and piled up shots after shots. It took some time but they scored in the 14th minute through Tomas Holmstorm from a decent strike. There period rallied on with both teams firing shots
on goal but no further goals were scored as the game ended with Red Wings winning 6-1 in the end.
