Detroit Red Wings wins 7-4 against the Los Angeles Kings
The final game of Monday was played at the Staples Centre, home of the Los Angeles Kings as they were up against the Detroit Red Wings. The game was very important for the Kings as they needed a win to put them out of the tight battle for the final few spot
for the play-offs. On the other hand, the Red Wings would close the gap on the Canucks with a win for the Conference lead.
The Red Wings absolutely dominated the first period and scored thrice compared to once out of the Kings. The Red Wings managed to come up with quite a performance in the remaining part of the game and score quite a few goals. The Kings also scored quite
a few goals but in the end it was the Red Wings who won the game 7-4. Pavel Datsyuk, centre of the Red Wings was named the star of the game is all around brilliant performance and a goal as well.
Both teams made a great offensive start to the game which saw the Kings scoring in the 5th minute through Michal Handzus to get into the lead. However, the joy was short-lived as the Red Wings came up with some brilliant pieces of play that saw
them scoring in the 7th minute to level the scores. The goal was scored by Drew Miller.
The Red Wings caught pace and scored once again in the very next minute through Danny Cleary from a superb tip in shot to get into the lead. Both teams continued to attack and a goal was surely on our way. However, it was Red Wings who scored the goal in
the 19th minute through Nicklas Lidstrom from a powerful strike to double their advantage.
The period ended with the Red Wings leading 3-1 as they made 10 goal attempts during the period while the Kings made 14 shots on goal.
The second period was not as exciting as the first one and there was only one goal scored with the Kings making 11 goal attempts during the period while the Red Wings made 12.
The goal was scored by Pavel Datsyuk during power play from a quick fired shot that caught the goalie by surprise. The period ended with the Red Wings leading 4-1 as the teams went into the break.
The final 20 minutes of play saw the Red Wings start off in style as they scored two goals early on. The first goal was scored by Darren Helm in the third minute while the second was scored by Drew Miller in the sixth minute.
The Red Wings were expected to slow down the pace of the game but this didn’t happen as they scored once again in the 11th minute through Jiri Hudler from a powerful strike. The Kings also responded to this with some strong plays as they scored
in the 13th minute through Dustin Brown.
However, they started to create chances regularly which resulted in them scoring twice in the 19th minute through Wayne Simmonds and Brad Richardson both from tip in shots. This wasn’t enough as the period ended with the Red Wings comfortably
winning the game 7-4 in the end.
