Detroit Tigers’ Alex Avila shows optimism for his teammate third-baseman Miguel Cabrera
After losing a potential winning chance to become the World Series Champions last season, the Detroit Tigers are now putting all their efforts in order to repeat last year’s performance. They lost decisive Division Championship Series from the Texas Rangers who later qualified for the World Series matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals.
In the meanwhile, the Major League offseason is about to end as the Spring Training sessions are around, but some Tigers’ players have already started their training. Currently third-baseman Miguel Cabrera seems excited to play well in the next season.
He is working out in the gym and trying to get in shape before the Opening Day. Lately, even his team-mate catcher Alex Avila also appreciated his level of determination and told some reporters about Cabrera and rather his daily routine as how he is keeping his body fit.
Avila said, “It's all he's thinking about. You know, you can make up your mind that you're going to be able to do something, but in this situation, Miguel has thrown himself into doing everything he can to do the best job he can. He's been working really hard at it. I've been working out with him since Nov. 1, and he's been getting in shape anyway. But once Prince signed, it really kicked in.”
He added with confidence, “He's been really excited since Prince signed. I know people were probably thinking he's not that happy about it, but Miguel is one of the ultimate team guys.”
Avila is right on saying that Cabrera is certainly a very key role playing player in the Tigers' roster. Not only for next particular season, but for the past three years, he has also been playing at the top of his game for the Tigers. Coming from the Miami Marlins roster in 2008, Cabrera has established his game as a perfect all round player as well.
Looking at his past season stats where he achieved .344 hitting average along with 30 home-runs, 105 RBIs and .448 OBP, Cabrera certainly possesses some extraordinary abilities which will always help him achieve further heights in his professional baseball career.
