Detroit Tigers’ Jacob Turner hopeful to play – MLB News
Having been the 26th best prospect in baseball in 2010, Jacob Turner of the Detroit Tigers has hardly got any opportunity in this season to represent his team. There are chances that he might not even be in the postseason roster.
However, there has rarely been any hopelessness that this starter puts on display. A seemingly eternal optimist, he is an assiduous hard worker as well to prove his contribution for the team. It is this reason that he still hopes he will be playing the last
game against the Baltimore Orioles scheduled to be played on Thursday.
"Being here for the month of September, it makes you more comfortable with everything that goes on with being in the big leagues," Turner said. "It kind of just gives you a better idea. Hopefully next year, I can go into Spring Training and perform well
and make them make the tough decision."
Jacob Turner’s start, however, was not a promising one in the season. He was woefully unlucky to lose the game to Kansas City Royals on September 1. That loss proved to be damaging for him.
All the same, much to the amusement of the team, the Detroit Tigers went for an incredible journey of a 12 game winning streak. As the team saw an upward trend in their performance, there has rarely been any opportunity for the starter to stage a comeback
in the team.
But to increase the chance of being called up, Jacob Turner continues throwing side seasons so as to be prepared once he is formally playing for the resurgent Detroit Tigers. Currently, the Tigers have a vast array of rotation openings that poses a great
challenge to the quick return of this youngster.
"It's still just baseball, but everything else that goes along with it, everything's just so magnified," Turner said. "Obviously, you're playing in bigger stadiums.”
Born in 1991, Jacob Turner was drafted in the Detroit Tigers for the 2009 Major League Baseball draft after which he signed a deal with the team. He has a record of 0-1 loss with an ERA of 7.45. The 20-year-old starter has a long way to go as his team continues
to stun the fans and critics alike with an increasingly exceptional performance throughout the season.
However, for the team, it is the experience that matters. As the experience for Jacob Turner comes as he keeps throwing side seasons and popping up occasionally in a game or for the team. Turner’s just has not been given the chance to prove himself in the
Tigers’ pitching line-up. As the team is riding on high on their recent success, Turner will be looking for an opportunity to play and be a part of the postseason action.
