Detroit Tigers’ Justin Verlander all set to start third game in ALDS – MLB News
After rain dashed away all the hopes of Justin Verlander to pitch the New York Yankees out, the Detroit Tigers’ starter has got his spot fixed for Monday’s roster. Verlander could only pitch an inning on Saturday before rain changed the landscape of the
game.
With a 24-5 record for the season, the American League Division Series occupies prominent significance not only for the Detroit Tigers but also for Justin Verlander.
After Doug Fister made the start in the first game due to rain, Verlander did not expect he would be back soon for another press conference. "It went along the lines of, 'Hey, Skip, I can go on Sunday.' He said, 'No, you're going on Monday.' I said, 'OK.'"
The third game in Detroit will offer a new opportunity to the Tigers to regain their confidence and level the series that was outweighed by the Yankees’ 9-3 win in the first game. Nonetheless, the Detroit Tigers’ starter is looking forward to a refreshing
new start.
"It's going to be a big game no matter what, whether it's Game 1 at Yankee Stadium or Game 3 in Detroit," Verlander said.
New York Yankees are unaccustomed to going easy against their rivals. Given the fact that the AL Division Series is one of the competitions holding crucial importance for them, they will certainly pose a big challenge for the Tigers.
However, having outshone many of the starters this season with a 2.40 ERA, Verlander is someone to reckon with. He is taking the upcoming game at Detroit as an exciting encounter. “Either way you look at it, it's going to be a swing game. Either way it's
going to be an exciting game."
Winning 24 of his 34 games, the Tigers’ starter Verlander is an executor of legacies, not only for his career but for the team. It, therefore, becomes more exciting to see how he battles against the Yankees in Detroit’s third game.
The Tigers will be looking for a brilliant performance by Verlander in the series. Detroit will want a convincing win to keep their hopes alive in the series.
