Detroit Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera looking to shut his critics – MLB News
Miguel Cabrera is one of the most dynamic hitters in the game right now. As a slugging first baseman, he looked in commanding form last season to hit a sensational average with 30 plus home runs and 100 plus RBI’s. It will not be wrong to say that he is
a super hero among Detroit Tigers’ fans. In addition to being a great striker, the hard hitting Cabrera is a great team mate to have.
He works hard with the youngsters to improve their swinging technique and he is known for his warm behaviour with the coaching and management staff. However, this year will see him playing a new role for the Tigers at third base. Many people think that Cabrera
will not be successful at third base but Cabrera has different ideas since he is a grinder at heart. He admits that he is not as good a fielder as Brandon Inge. Third base is a very demanding position and Cabrera will be looking to train extremely hard to
shut his critics.
"Practice is slow," he said. "When they come in game speed ... that's the time you're going to see when you're going to be ready. That's your job. My job is to play baseball. I don't mind what people say. You have to ask that question. People want to know.
So that's good with me. I don't get mad."
"Show who?" he said. "I don't want to play third base to try to show everybody I can play third base. I play third base to help the team win. I don't want to impress anybody over there."
According to sources, Cabrera looks lighter than he was four years ago when he joined the Tigers. He has been working hard with Tigers’ coaching staff to improve his speed, agility and athleticism. Cabrera was asked to switch from first to third base earlier
this year after the Tigers signed on Prince Fielder on a multi million dollar contract. The upcoming season will be very important for him. If the Tigers can win consistently with Cabrera at third base, the critics will have nothing to complain about.
