Detroit Tigers’ Prince Fielder talks about his childhood memories – MLB News
A few days ago, Prince Fielder signed on the fourth largest contract in the history of Baseball. Agreeing to a nine year $214 million deal with the Tigers, he finally landed at the place where he always to be since his childhood. These days, Fielder is looking
over the moon. Spending quality time with his kids and wife, he wants to enjoy the life to the fullest before the spring training session starts next month.
In early 1990’s, Fielder used to live in Detroit with his father Cecil Fielder. Although he was quite young at that time, he still remembers quite a few things about the city. Once he gets there, surely it will all come back to him.
"Well, you know, man, today is a good day," Fielder said when he was asked about the situation with his father. "I've got my family here, my wife, my two boys. I'm just ecstatic about being with the Tigers."
"I think when I was the same size, when I weighed as much as him," he further added. "I think I was about 11. He was like, 'You're too big. I was upset, I was really mad because I'd ask my dad every day like, 'Sparky said I was going to hit.' He was like,
'Yeah. OK. Tomorrow.”
Cecil played for Tigers from 1990-1996 and he displayed some high quality hitting skills in his tenure with the club. His son, Prince Fielder now has an opportunity to perform for the same legendary club.
In an interview with a baseball website, Fielder stated that he is going to enjoy his time in Detroit and he will be looking to get different things to eat from the market. He further added he is not a vegetarian. Fielder confirmed that he will be looking
to stay with the Tigers for as long as possible.
Last season, the striker batted with great control and aggression to hit 38 home runs with 120 RBI’s. He will be looking to cheer up the Tigers’ fans by leading his team to World Series title glory.
