Detroit Tigers’ Rick Porcello slated to start against the New York Yankees in Game 4 – MLB Playoffs
The Detroit Tigers have slated Rick Porcello to the start Game 4 of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees scheduled on Tuesday, October 4. By the time this report was being filed, the Tigers had a 5-4 lead in Game 3 as the Series
stood tied 1-all.
The Yankees put everything upside down for the Detroit Tigers with a 9-3 victory in the first game, bringing to fore the seeming vulnerability of the defence. But the Tigers won the second game to show their resilience.
Given the fact that the New York Yankees have got some of the best hitters representing them in the form of, among several others, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez, the Detroit Tigers have got to come up with more powerful defence.
Detroit Tigers think that it can be supplemented, if not completely achieved by solidifying the defence. It is here that Porcello comes in.
Sensing the pressing responsibility lying on his shoulder, Porcello is also quite excited for having got this opportunity to pitch in ALDS game for the first time in his career.
"Obviously, I'm champing at the bit to get out there," Porcello said. "I'm definitely excited. Watching Max throw the ball the way he did was big for our team.”
Even for others, Porcello is a combination of a set of players as a whole. He combines both talent and a bit of experience now to pitch rather more confidently.
"I think he's been a little bit of a Jekyll and Hyde," said Leyland, further defining Porcello. "A little slow at times. He's still adjusting to this whole scenario, there's no question about that.”
With a lot on his shoulders, Porcello will not only be excited but also under some pressure to pitch the Yankees out in Game 4. The Tigers will be looking to put in a good performance against the Yankees with the help of Porcello on the mound. It will be
interesting to see what impact he will have against the Yankees and manage to get a much needed victory in Game 4 for Detroit.
