The Detroit Tigers are all set for post-season Major League Baseball (MLB) awards after suffering a heartbreaking 4-2 series defeat from the Texas Rangers in the American League Championship (ALCS). The 2011 post-season awards will be announced from November
1 to November 22 on regular-season’s statistics.
Despite the loss in the ALCS, the Tigers are expecting high regards in these upcoming awards as almost seven to eight of their players are front runners to win this year’s post-season MLB honours. The Tigers are eyeing four particular awards categories which
they presumably will win in next month. The Gold Glove Award including Silver Slugger, Cy Young and Manager of the Year are the main awards which they have huge possibility to favour the Detroit Tigers in the feasible future.
Having failed to grab any award in the 2010 season, the Tigers’ are now looking in great shape to impress their other league’s opponents. Catcher Alex Avila, along with Miguel Cabrera, short-stop Jhonny Peralta and Austin Jackson are main contenders to win
the Gold Glove Award for the Detroit Tigers. These four players have played tremendously throughout the regular season and earned great acknowledgement from many baseball experts as they possess the utmost ability to win the 2011 Gold Glove.
The Silver Slugger award will be announced on November 2 that has already generated hype in public for potential winners from the Cleveland Indians’ Asdrubal Cabrera along with the Tigers’ Avila, Jhonny Peralta and Cabrera.
Justin Verlander is the only candidate from the Tigers’ roster who has above 95 percent chances to win the precious Cy Young Award. He performed tremendously throughout the regular season and helped his team qualify for the post-season. Not only in the regular
season, Verlander played brilliantly in the later stages of the season where he pitched with energy and won several games for the Tigers.
The Los Angeles Angels’ star pitcher Jered Weaver along with New York Yankees CC Sabathia, Mariano Rivera and Tampa Bay Rays’ James Shields will also be competing against Justin Verlander for the Cy Young Award.
The Tigers’ manager Jim Leyland is also very hopeful to win the Manager of the Year Award against the Texas Rangers’ Ron Washington including Tampa Bay Ray’s Joe Maddon and Cleveland Indians’ Manny Acta. Winning these awards will not only help the Detroit
Tigers’ in the near future but these honours will certainly assist them to come-up with a new force in the next season.
