Detroit Tigers beaten by Cleveland Indians 6-9 – MLB Update
Detroit Tigers were beaten by Cleveland Indians 6-9 at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan on Wednesday, June 6 in the second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
The Tigers were once again pummelled by Cleveland Indians in a game that was very important to both teams. It was Cleveland’s fifth straight win at Comerica Park this season and it will be interesting to see if they can continue their sensational form in
the finale to sweep the Tigers.
Michael Brantley provided the Indians with an impressive start as he hit a three run home run to right in the first inning. Johnny Damon also played a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash with a two run single and a superb catch in deep left field
and the Indians flattened their American League Central rivals to strengthen their position on the league table.
"The championship goes through Detroit," Acta said. "They beat us up pretty good last year, the whole division, and they're a very good ballclub. It's still very early."
"Our bullpen once again proved to be our strength, but our offense was big too today," Acta said.
"We had a little miscue and we didn't pitch above it," Detroit manager Jim Leyland said in a post game interview. "When you are going good, you make an error and the guy pops up the next pitch. When you are going bad, the guy hits a three-run homer on the
next pitch."
Cleveland is now just one game behind the leaders Chicago White Sox. A win in the final can certainly send them to first place, which will be a great achievement for them. Casey Kotchman also displayed top quality batting skills, hitting a mighty home run
to right in the fourth inning, which gave the Indians an impassable 5-1 lead.
Miguel Cabrera and Don Kelly hit solo homers but the Tigers were unable to stop the flow of runs. Tigers’ starting pitcher Max Scherzer took his fourth loss of the season, giving up five earned runs in just over 4 innings.
