Detroit Tigers beaten by Texas Rangers 3-8 in series finale – MLB Update
Detroit Tigers were beaten by the Texas Rangers 3-8 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on Sunday, August 12 in the finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
After humiliating Texas 6-2 in series opener, the Tigers had an excellent chance to grab a rare series win at Rangers Ballpark but Jim Leyland and company were unable to score enough runs over the next two games. The Rangers bounced back strongly to secure
a well deserved series victory.
Tigers’ Manager Jim Leyland will be expecting the Tigers to bring some more consistency in their results to have any chance of replacing Chicago White Sox at the top of American League Central Division standings table.
Rangers, on the other hand, will be looking to continue their good work against New York Yankees.
"We always enjoy playing in New York," Hamilton said. "But it's just another series."
Josh Hamilton looked in commanding form as he belted a two run home-run to left centre in the first inning to put Rangers on the board. Ian Kinsler and Elvis Andrus drove in crucial runs in the third inning to stretch Rangers’ lead to 4-0.
"I just hope we can maintain what we have been doing," Hamilton said.
Hamilton continued to take advantage of Rick Porcello’s errors as he earned another RBI in the third and Kinsler hit a sacrifice fly to right in the fourth to give his side complete control of the situation.
Tigers’ starting pitcher Porcello took his seventh loss after giving up nine hits and six runs in six wavered innings. His counterpart from Texas, Yu Darvish allowed just three hits in six plus innings for third straight win against the Tigers this season.

"He was the king and he acted like he was the king on the mound," Washington said.
"I felt like I was stronger in the end," Darvish said through an interpreter. "So the heat didn't affect me. It was ugly, really ugly,"
Omar Infante and Miguel Cabrera had RBIs in the fifth inning to keep Tigers’ hopes alive but the Rangers were too dominant in their game-play.
