Detroit Tigers consider trading Brennan Boesch – MLB Update
Reports are coming that Detroit Tigers might soon decide on trading Brennan Boesch. Right fielder played inconsistently throughout the 2012 Major League Baseball season and failed to impress the franchise.
He hit with an average of .240 along with 12 homers, 54 RBIs and .286 OBP.
On the other hand, the two-year big league veteran also garnering trade interest from some leading teams. All these factors have been under review by the Tigers' top management that later also mentioned their final potential verdict on their right fielder as they will very much like to hear offers.
"I'm just hoping it was one of those 'blur' years that somehow it gets changed, I don't really know what happened. I don't really have an answer for you,” Tigers' manager Jim Leyland said of Boesch earlier this month.
He added, "I know he got upset when I said in the paper that he needs to relax. He didn't like that too much, so I'm trying to figure out another way to go about it because I still think the big ceiling is there."
Detroit general manager Dave Dombrowski had also said for Boesch, "We'll tender him a contract, if that's the question. We're not going to not tender him. He's not where we would like him to be at this point.”
Tigers recently signed Torii Hunter and are now looking more confident to determine all their pending matters. The annual Major League Baseball’s Winter Meetings are also approaching fast which will show a clearer picture for the Tigers in order to sign and trade players.
Meanwhile, experts believe that Tigers late efforts to trade Boesch are purely related with their desire to add some potential hard hitter who will provide them a superfluous offence.
Tigers, last season, played with real confidence and never showed any loop-holes in their game. From the very first game, they kept their thrust intact and qualified into the post-season for second straight year.
Later they also played quite aggressively in the post-season and played in the World Series against the San Francisco Giants. However, the Tigers lost the seven-match battle against the Giants.
