Detroit Tigers could re-sign starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez – MLB Update
Detroit Tigers have started to rebuild their offensive strength as they seriously thinking to go for free agent Anibal Sanchez.
Sources have speculated in the media that the Tigers’ management wants Sanchez back in 2013 Major League Baseball season.
“We would love to have Anibal Sanchez back, In (Valverde's) case, I don't think we'll be pursuing him, I do not discount Bruce Rondon being our closer next season, We really contemplated on Sept. 1 bringing Rondon up. … If I had known how things with Valverde would have gone, we would have considered it," Dombrowski said during a press conference at Comerica Park.
He added, "We talked to Delmon Young and at this point, we were very thankful for the things they have done for us but we have to make some business decisions as well, Dirks is a really good player, Is he an everyday player? I don't know."
They know how he performed in recent past season. Not only in the regular season, Sanchez also played with great consistency in the post-season where he along with Justin Verlander, rattled many big teams.
Though it was a bad end for both pitchers as Tigers lost to the San Francisco Giants in World Series clash, but still many believe that Sanchez along with Verlander has learnt a lot and now feels more comfortable with the franchise.
Not only Sanchez played well, but he in-fact throughout the season, carried Tigers' manager Jim Leyland’s support. Leyland knew that this was the first season of Sanchez with the Tigers as he previously spent almost six years in a different team, the Florida Marlins. That was the main reason, Sanchez also felt the responsibility and turned Leyland’s support into a healthy confidence which worked well for entire Tigers roster.
Meanwhile, that is the main reason why the Tigers management wants his presence in the next big event as well.
Sanchez finished the season with the Tigers achieving 3.86 ERA along with 9-13 win-loss, 167 strike-outs and127 WHIP while his six-year Major League career 3.75 ERA along with 48-51 win-loss,733 strike-outs and 1.35 WHIP also makes him a good and reliable player in the entire league.
