Detroit Tigers could trade Brennan Boesch during Winter Meetings – MLB News

In his three years tenure in Detroit, outfielder Brennan Boesch struggled to produce consistent results.  He posted some impressive number for the Tigers in 2011, helping his side win the American League Central Division title. However, his production hit
the lowest point in 2012 as he failed to make the most of available opportunities.
He managed to hit just one home run after July. He had a terrible time on the plate in final two weeks of the regular season. Boesch was then taken off the Tigers’ big league roster for the entire post season.
Right now, the Tigers are desperate to win the season. Their last World Series triumph came in 1984. Since then, they have reached the World Series finals twice but were unable to cross the final hurdle. Owner Mike Ilitch is already 83 years old and he is
willing to pay any price for the title.
"I have no control, obviously," Boesch said as he headed into the off-season. "I'm a Detroit Tiger today, and I hope it stays that way. But all that other stuff is really out of my hands.”
"Whatever lies ahead -- whether it's here or somewhere else -- it is just about playing my best ball. I wasn't able to do that this year. But I have a love for Detroit and for the fans and for the organization, so I hope that continues," he said while speaking
to the journalists.
His willingness to spend money on players has gone to the point where the fans expect him to buy every good player. In these circumstances, the Tigers may not be able to give Boesch more chances.
There is no denying the fact Boesch is an extremely talented player but Ilitch expects every player to perform on regular basis, which did not turn out to be the case last season as far as Boesch is concerned.
It will not be a surprise to anyone if the Tigers trade Boesch during the four days of Winter Meetings in Nashville. Although Boesch wants to stay in Detroit, as of now it seems the Tigers do not have interest in retaining him.
