Detroit Tigers could use Minor League talent as surprise package – MLB News

Pundits are shocking at Detroit Tigers’ General Manager Dave Dombrowski’s decision to use Bruce Rondon as a closer in the next season. Lynn Henning of Detroitnews.com said at one reputed National Pundit insists the Detroit could pursue Rafael to play the
bullpen closing position in 2013.
It seems, the baseball analysts are not prepared to believe in the kid, who is going to turn 22 on Sunday this week, could cope with the pressure of the bullpen’s highest profile. Can Rondon live up to the expectations to s**t his critics?
Of course, he can unless he loses his way completely during Spring Training. However, considering the kind of performances he has put up over the last couple of years, it is hard to see him failing at the biggest stage.
Rondon has been reported to hit 100 mph on regular basis in Tigers’ farm system. He is the kind of pitcher who can close the game without the anxiety typically associated with forerunners Todd Jones and Jose Valverde.
In hitting department of the game, the Tigers have high hopes from outfielder Nick Castellanos, who is expected to fill in one of the outfield spots on Tigers’ big league roster. What it also means is that the Tigers will Avisail Garcia an opportunity to
win back his place on the big league roster. The Tigers have said they will try them both during Spring Training.
“Everyone asks why the Tigers don't return Castellanos to his high-school position, shortstop. It's because he is 6-4 and will weigh 225 pounds when he maxes out in a year or two. Ballet steps necessary for shortstop aren't in his repertoire,” Henning said
in his post.
“Garcia probably gets a bit more time in the bushes, as well. The Tigers want him to play regularly, and not as a platoon guy with Andy Dirks. But this will be an intriguing storyline once camp begins in eight weeks at Lakeland, Fla, he further added.
However, considering Castellanos is young and inexperienced, he could have to wait for a few more years before he could make his Major League Baseball debut for the Tigers.
