Detroit Tigers drop Ryan Raburn from 40-man roster – MLB Update
Detroit Tigers have dropped Ryan Raburn from 40-man roster after reviewing his past Major League Baseball season’s performance in which he only hit one homer on more than 200 at-bats.
During his entire season, he still has never been able to play with the Tigers for entire season with his inconsistent form. However, the Tigers always showed confidence in him and gave him opportunities on a consistent basis.
He on the other hand, also improved with slight winnings but on the whole, he remained as part of Tigers’ backup plan.
This past season in which Tigers outplayed many and made it to the World Series but Raburn could not do much and received criticism with his poor performances.
This is way the Tigers dropped him from the 40-man roster. This is also not the first time when his performance declined with disappointment.
During his time of August and September in 2009-11, the experienced Raburn played with hitting average of .340 along with 28 of his 45 total home-runs.
“He has given us a lot of time at the big-league level,’’ general manager Dave Dombrowski said about Raburn in detail. “He has been a solid player. He was a hard worker who gave a great effort. He moved from position to position. He swung the bat well at times, and he helped us win a lot of games."
He added, “It’s a shame it finished on such a downward trend this last year. I think he will bounce back fine. A change of scenery probably will be beneficial for him. We probably have reached that point."
Raburn finished this past season with .171 hitting average along with only one homer, 12 RBIs and .226 OBP.
These numbers show a dire picture of his current overall position in the Tigers' roster. Though his career hitting average of .256 is somewhat considered not very bad but still Tigers stuck with the decision of not giving him another chance in the top league.
Experts also believe that Raburn still has potential to make a drastic comeback if he shows slight consistent performance in the Minor League.
