Detroit Tigers facing great deal of criticism – MLB Update

Detroit Tigers are feeling the pressure after suffering a humiliating 3-0 series sweep at the hands of Seattle Mariners just a couple of days ago. Without a shadow of a doubt, the Tigers have enough firepower in their offence to beat any team in Major
League Baseball. For Tigers, it is a question of executing their game plan to perfection, which they have failed to do over the last week or so.

Earlier in their series against Texas Rangers, Manager Jim Leyland and Company were outplayed in almost all departments of the game. The Rangers made the most of available opportunities in the opening two games to floor the Tigers in front of their
own home crowd. Detroit secured a hard fought victory in the third game but they were unable to end the series on a positive note and the Rangers clinched a 3-1 series win.

In an attempt to change the course of their destiny, Dombrowski has decided to send Thad Weber to Triple A league and replace him with right handed reliever Putkonen, who has an impressive 1.38 ERA in 13 minor league games.

"He made a good impression," Leyland said. "Power arm, power stuff. Nobody knows how they're going to react when they get up here, but he's done well in Toledo."
With just one win in their last seven home games, the Tigers will have to work out a method to beat their opponents at the Comerica Park in Michigan, Detroit. Considering the strength of Tigers’ pitching and batting lineups, they were one of the favourites
to win the World Series at the start of 2012 season.
General Manager Dave Dombrowski had made some key moves earlier this year in his effort to win the World Series trophy for owner Mike Ilitch. Former Milwaukee Brewers’ first baseman, Prince Fielder was signed for $214 million nine year contract to
assist the likes of Miguel Cabrera and Brennan Boesch in hitting department of the game. Pitching attack was also powered with youngsters like Drew Smyly and Jacob Turner. However, despite making a bright start to the season, it seems the Tigers are losing
their grip now.
