Detroit Tigers fall to Toronto Blue Jays 3-10 – MLB Spring Training
Detroit Tigers were annihilated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday, February 23in their second Spring Training Game of 2013. Tigers displayed some high quality baseball skills in their Spring Training opener against the Atlanta Braves. Manager Jim Leyland
was expecting his men to continue the good work against the Blue Jays as well but unfortunately that did not turn out to be the case. Blue Jays look far superiors than the Tigers in almost all departments of the game.
Blue Jays’ pitching rotation in particular created all sorts of problems for the Tigers’ batting lineup and it will not be wrong to say the pitching attack played a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash. Tigers’ starting rotation, on the other hand,
was unable to get the job done.
Starter Anibal Sanchez provided his side with an excellent start as he pitched two scoreless innings but rest of the pitching lineup was unable to cope with the pressure applied by Toronto’s batters. Blue Jays ended up scoring ten runs in a completely one
sided contest. Tigers, on the other hand, managed to put up just three runs of the board.
"I have no idea how far either of them went, but they were both bombs," Detroit manager Jim Leyland said.
"Obviously down and in for a strike to Prince Fielder is not a good pitch," said Brandon Morrow, who conceded two run hit in the first inning. "I wouldn't be throwing that during the season, but we're working on stuff."

Left hander Prince Fielder made decent start to his Spring Training campaign as he smacked a home run to right. The 2013 American League Most Valuable Player and Triple Crown Award Winner Miguel Cabrera also made his presence felt with a might home run to
the left centre but the night belonged to the Blue Jays who outclassed their rivals to secure a comfortable victory.
