Detroit Tigers flattened by Seattle Mariners 4-5 – MLB Update

Detroit Tigers faced another humiliating 4-5 defeat against Seattle Mariners in front of their home crowd at the Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan on Thursday, April 26 in the finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular
season.
Mariners have looked in outstanding touch in this series. They are now 10-10 in their 20 games this season. Chone Figgins drove in the tie breaking run in the seventh inning on a throwing error by right fielder Brennan Boesch to help them take the lead.
Tigers’ third baseman Miguel Cabrera also had a great time on the plate as he hit his sixth home run of the season to keep the Tigers stay in the game. However, despite his heroics, the Tigers failed to cross the winning line.
"A little different. It was fun though. Being in this ballpark after being up here for a while last year, I had some familiarity," said reliever Charlier Furbush, who pitched a perfect inning.
Jim Leyland and company have looked completely out of sorts for the last couple of weeks and they are now on a four match losing streak. The Tigers lost 1-3 to Texas Rangers in their previous four game series and they were hoping to put things back on the
right track in their encounters against the Mariners.
"We're not getting big hits late in the game. We're not making some plays, we're not pitching real good, we're not managing good enough, we're not coaching good enough," Detroit manager Jim Leyland said. "We're all involved in this together, that's just
the way it is. You just gotten get aggressive and take charge and get after somebody."
After making a strong start to their 2012 season campaign, it seems the Tigers are losing their way. General Manager Dave Dombrowski made some expensive moves during the offseason in an effort to build a team that would be capable to win the World Series
title.
The GM will be disappointed to see his team going down like nine pins. Tigers’ loss to Seattle on Thursday damaged their win-loss record to 10-9 and it will be interesting to see if they can turn things around in their upcoming series’ to cheer up their
fans.
