Detroit Tigers have their eyes set on World Series title – MLB News
Detroit Tigers are certainly one of the favourites to win the American League Central title but can they make it all the way to win the World Series title? The Tigers displayed some high quality baseball skills last season to win the American League Central
division title. However, they faltered during the regular season, failing to reach the World Series finals.
The Tigers are looking stronger than ever before this season. Showing their composure, class, temperament and mental strength, the Tigers emerged victorious in most of their 2012 Spring Training games. It will be interesting to see if the Tigers can give
similar performances in the upcoming regular season.
Every Major League Baseball team plays to its full strength during the regular season and it will not be easy for the Tigers to make it to the World Series. However, when we consider the depth and quality of Tigers’ hitting and pitching lineups, it is easy
to see why most of the National baseball writers and analysts consider the Tigers as one of the favourites to win the World Series trophy.
The Tigers have Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder and Brennan Boesch in their hitting lineup. All three are very capable of destroying any pitching lineup. Fielder hit 38 home runs and 105 RBI’s last season and he will have a key role to play for the Tigers
this season.
“In 1997 everybody told me that you won’t be able to win with Bobby Bonilla playing third. He was a big guy, had good hands and a good arm,” Leyland said of Bonilla.
“Well, we won the World Series with him playing third base. We’re all definitely excited about the possibilities,” said All-Star catcher Alex Avila. “We have a team to win it all. We expect to win and that’s our goal.”
“He’s going to be unbelievable. He’s got so much poise and maturity—I tip my hat to him,” Former teammate Mike Lowell said of Cabrera.
Surely, the Tigers will not disappoint their fans this time around. Manager Jim Leyland and General Manager Dave Dombrowski will be hoping to get decent returns on their huge investments.
