Detroit Tigers humiliate Toronto Blue Jays 11-1 - MLB News
Detroit Tigers humiliated the Toronto Blue Jays 11-1 at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan on Thursday, April 11 in the finale of their three match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball regular season.
It will not be wrong to say that the Tigers dominated their American Leaguer rivals in every aspect of the game. Tigers’ pitching rotation was extremely dominant as it created all sorts of problems for the Blue Jays’ batting line-up. Executing their game
plan to perfection, the Tigers secured a comfortable win in front of their home crowd to grab an important series victory.
Manager Jim Leyland will be very satisfied with what he saw from his men in a game that turned out to be completely on sided. Tigers secured a comfortable win in the opener but the Blue Jays fought back strongly in the following game to level the series
1-1. With momentum on their side, Toronto had an excellent opportunity to dent Tigers’ confidence levels but that did not turn out to be the case.
Leyland and his men showed the stuff they are capable of at Comerica Park. The batting line-up also made the most of available opportunities, stacking up a huge total on the board. Blue Jays in response only managed to bite the dust and lost by a ten run
margin. It will be interesting to see if the Blue Jays can lift their spirits under the supervision of their new manager.
"Miggy stealing, getting a triple -- we were running around a lot today," catcher Alex Avila said. "Had to -- it was pretty cold outside."
"It was definitely football weather out there, but once you get in the box, you sit in the box, you're there to compete," Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter said. "You're really not thinking about all that until you get jammed or hit one off the end and feel
like your fingers are left there at the plate while you're running to first."
Tigers’ starting pitcher Doug Fister grabbed his second straight win of the season after he allowed just one run in eight innings. Relief pitcher Alberto Alburquerque pitched the scoreless ninth to give Tigers’ an easy victory.
