Detroit Tigers humiliated by Seattle Mariners 1-9 – MLB Update
Detroit Tigers were humiliated by Seattle Mariners 1-9 at the Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan on Wednesday, April 25 in their regular season encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball.
Mariners, once again, took the attack to their opponents and they dominated the Tigers in almost all aspects of the game to establish complete control over the contest.
Tigers have one of the best hitters and pitchers in their squad and it is very hard to understand why they have not been able to play their natural game in their last six MLB outings. Jesus Montero provided his team with an excellent start as the Mariners
scored in the opening inning.
"It feels good to hit the home runs, but winning both games makes it better," Liddi said.
Alex Liddi also made a useful contribution to help Seattle take an impassable lead. For the Tigers, the only run scored came in the third inning when Brennan Boesch homered to the right field.
"People are beating up on us -- and enjoying it," Detroit manager Jim Leyland said. "Sooner or later, we'll get tired of it. None of us are doing enough good things right now."
Mariners’ starting pitcher Felix Hernandez allowed just one run in seven-plus innings.
"This is not a good lineup to get behind in the count," Hernandez said. "But then I started to get lucky."
Tigers’ pitcher Adam Wilk had a horrible time on the mound as he gave up six run and eight hits in just over two innings.
Seattle made the most of on hand opportunities in a game that proved to be completely one sided at the end. Detroit had several opportunities to score but they managed to put just a single run on the board.
After making a strong start to the season, it seems things are falling apart for the Tigers. Their win-loss record was damaged quite significantly after they lost three out of four games in a series against Texas Rangers.
Having lost the first two matches of this series, Jim Leyland and company will have to work extremely hard to salvage some of the lost pride in the finale.
