Detroit Tigers humiliated by Texas Rangers 10-4 – MLB Update
Texas Rangers demolished Detroit Tigers 10-4 at the Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday, April 21 in second game of their four match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball. Friday’s game had to be postponed after heavy rain showers came.
Texas Rangers’ starting pitcher Matt Harrison put up a great show as he allowed just three runs on six hits in over seven innings.
"It makes your life a lot easier when you've got eight before you go out there," Harrison said. "You just pound the strike zone, but you can't get too far away from your game. Things are going really well for me, but I want it to keep going."
His Tigers’ counterpart Rick Porcello had a forgettable time on the mound as he gave up nine runs including eight earned. He had a decent 1.84 ERA going into the game against Texas but it was an eye-popping 6.32 by the time he left the mound.
"He made mistakes, and we didn't miss," Texas manager Ron Washington said. "He had some pitches up, and we got them."
"They're hot and they're aggressive and confident," Porcello said. "It's a tough one to swallow, because I was unable to come up with an answer."
Tigers Manager Jim Leyland and General Manager Dave Dombrowski will be extremely worried about the challenges their team faces right now. After making an absolutely strong start to the season, it seems the Tigers are falling apart.
Detroit Tigers were hammered in the opening game as well as the Rangers outclassed them in almost all aspects of the game. An astonishing 10-3 score-line, Tigers’ pitching attack was made to look ordinary by Texas Rangers’ mighty batting unit. Texas put
up a huge total on the board but the Tigers failed to match them to lose the game by six runs.
Rangers’ win over the Tigers on Saturday morning improved their 12-2. Considering what the Rangers have done to other teams since the start of the regular season, it will safe to say that they are one of the favourites to win the World Series title this
year.
It will be interesting to see if they can continue their impressive form throughout this series to give the Tigers some taste of their own medicine.
