Detroit Tigers looking great – MLB Update
Without a shadow of a doubt, Detroit Tigers are one of the favourites to win the American League Central title this season but can they make go on to clinch the World Series title?
That is exactly what the Tigers’ fans will be hoping for. The Tigers have shown great improvement as a team in the last few years. They fought hard in each game last season to make sure they reach the playoffs.
However, considering the fact they have the likes of Prince Fielder, Miguel Cabrera and Brennan Boesch in their batting lineup, there will be higher expectations from them this season. The Tigers began their three match series with Tampa Bay Rays on a really
high note. Showing their determination, discipline and fighting spirits, the Tigers outclassed the Rays in finer details of the game.
This is the same team that looked invincible at times in 2011. Manager Jim Leyland led his side to the American League Central title in an emphatic fashion but the pressure to perform will be bigger than ever before this season.
Last year, the Tigers played a four game series with the Rays in late August. They had a very slim lead in the central prior to the series. However, the way played against the Rays proved to be the turning point for them. The Tigers are now facing the very
same team in the second series of their regular season campaign.
Despite the fact the Tigers did not put too many runs on the board in the first four games, they have learnt ways to get over the winning line. Although they have a 4-0 win-loss record, they have not been able to score more than five runs in any of their
games so far. The biggest margin of any of their wins is three runs.
The above stats suggest that the Tigers pitching line up is delivering the results on regular basis. However, the Tigers’ batting attach will have to more consistent to beat the likes of St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays. It will be
interesting to see what the Tigers manage to accomplish at the end of this season.
