Detroit Tigers looking to grab two against Texas Rangers – MLB Update
The Detroit Tigers have given considerable results since the start of the 2011 regular season. In Texas, they will be hunting for a 3-3 series leveler as Max Scherzer will be preparing to get himself on a big hostile mound to start a tough job.
Scherzer has been nothing but special this post-season. Beating the Yankees with six innings of two hit work, he looked on top of his game in New York. With an impressive just over one innings in relief, he helped close out the series in New York. Allowing
only three runs in six innings, he almost won the battle against Texas Rangers before the opposing side clinched a narrow victory with a Grand Slam from Nelson Cruz in the 11th inning.
Although the odds are still stacked up against the Tigers, trailing 3-2 in the series, with Game six to be played, they are all set to surprise the challenging team. Texas may have the hitting and home advantage, the Tigers are superior in the pitching department
of the game. The task is a tough one but Scherzer has always been up for the challenge, heating up late in the season with a 2.70 ERA in the playoffs.
"It's the opportunity of a lifetime, and for me, it's the most exciting challenge I've ever had to face," Scherzer said Friday before the Tigers departed for Texas. "We're pretty relaxed as a whole, not fazed by any situations presented to us."
In fact Jim Leyland’s team has more chances than one would give them. Leyland will be certainly hoping for his side to pick up two victories against one of the best hitting team in baseball. Throughout the series, the Tigers have been masterful in crucial
situations of the game. Even team’s manager has called the series a “phenomenal one”.
Detroit will be looking to Sherzer to come out aggressively in the early part of the game and help guide the team to much needed victory over the Rangers. Both teams will battle it out as the Series is coming down to the wire and the coveted World Series
getting closer.
