Detroit Tigers lose to Cleveland Indians 3-4 – MLB Update
Detroit Tigers were defeated by the Cleveland Indians 3-4 in a thrilling encounter at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan on Sunday, May 12 in the finale of their three match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball regular season.
A lot of credit should be given to the Indians for showing excellent fighting abilities and determination throughout the series. The Tigers secured a comfortable win in the opener. Manager Jim Leyland and the fans were expecting their team to continue the
good work to wrap up another important home series sweep but that did not turn out to be the case. Indians secured a nail biting 7-6 win in Game 2 and then continued the good work in the finale to hand Tigers an embarrassing series sweep. It will be interesting
to see if the Indians can keep up their good job to replace the Tigers at the top of American League Central Division standing table.
"That was as good a team effort as you are ever going to see," said Francona, who took over as Cleveland's manager before this season. "We left some guys on base early, and that's tough against any team, much less that one. But we kept playing and we got
it in the end."
"With two strikes, I'm just trying to shorten up my swing and get something into play," Reynolds said in a post game interview. "He threw me a changeup, and I was able to get it on the ground and past Cabrera. That felt good."
Tigers, on the other hand, will be very disappointed with the outcome of last two games of the series. Despite putting themselves in a strong position, the Tigers were unable to cross the finish line. It will be exciting to see if they can learn from their
mistakes to consolidate their position at the top of league standings table.
Starting pitcher Rick Porcello had a great time on the mound as he allowed just four hits and two runs in six solid innings but his effort went in vain as Indians came back from behind to clinch an astonishing victory.
