Detroit Tigers lose to Kansas City Royals 2-3 – MLB News
Detroit Tigers were beaten by the Kansas City Royals 2-3 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri on Monday, June 10 in the opening game of their three match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball Regular Season.
It was an embarrassing defeat for the Tigers who were playing their first road in over two weeks. Manager Jim Leyland will be extremely disappointed with what he saw from his men in a game that could have been won by his team.
Inconsistency has remained one of the main challenges for the Tigers for many years. Despite posting impressive results in 2012 regular season, the Tigers failed to live up to the expectation in World Series finals as they took 0-5 punishment against the San
Francisco Giants.
"Aaron's facing the best hitter to walk on this planet," Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer said. "The way he came in and showed no fear, went right after him with the crowd standing up on every pitch. That's a big moment right there.
Crow is usually not a big fan of showing emotion right there, but he got fired up. It just fires up the whole team at that point."
"The slider was probably the best pitch I've thrown all year," Aaron Crow said. "I haven't thrown that many good ones. That's what we're paid to do. It's a situation you don't want to be in."
Leyland will be expecting his men to learn from their mistakes to ensure the Tigers finally end their 14 year World Series title drought. A lot will depend on the Tigers’ batting lineup that is packed with super stars including
Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder, Victor Martinez and Torii Hunter. It will be interesting to see if the hitters can escape their mental block to help the Tigers win this season.
Tigers’ starting pitcher Doug Fister had a great time on the mound as he allowed just three run in eight games while striking out three batters. Fister, however, was unlucky to end up with his fourth loss of the season.
Miguel Cabrera smacked a two run home run to break the deadlock and put his side on the board but everyone else only managed to bite the dust.
