Detroit Tigers lose to Los Angeles Angels 1-8 – MLB News
Detroit Tigers were humiliated by the Los Angeles Angels 1-8 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim in Anaheim, California on Friday, April 19th in the opening game of their three match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball regular season.
Credit should be given to the Angel’s pitching rotation for creating all sorts of problems against on e of the most powerful batting line ups in the league. 2012 American League Most Valuable Player Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder and Torii Hunter all failed
to live up to the expectations as the Tigers lost to the Angels by a seven run margin. Cabrera scored the only run of the game for the Tigers as he singled to centre in the bottom of the ninth but his effort was never going to be enough.
Without a shadow of a doubt, the Tigers are one of the strongest teams in the American League. They secured the AL Central Division title comfortably last year and it will be interesting to see if they can continue the good work throughout this season to
win their third straight AL Central title but Manager Jim Leyland will not look to settle for anything less than a World Series title in 2013.
"It was a very good, complete game for us," Trout said. "It's a good feeling when things click like that. We need more of that."
"We haven't played many good ones, but this was certainly one of them," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said.
"I don't feel like anyone has panicked in this clubhouse," Tommy Hanson said after his first scoreless start since June 2011 with Atlanta. "We know we're a good team, and we're going to play well. I feel like we just need to get rolling, and I don't think
anybody is second-guessing our team in this clubhouse."
Tigers’ starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez paid the ultimate price for his errors on the mound, allowing 11 hits and three runs in just over six innings to take his second loss of the season. Relief pitcher Octavio Dotel was also hit hard as he allowed four
hits and five runs in just one inning of relief.
