Detroit Tigers lose to Minnesota Twins 2-3 – MLB Update
Detroit Tigers lost to the Minnesota Twins 2-3 at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Wednesday, April 3 in the second game of their three match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball regular season.
Tigers who dominated their American League Central Division rivals in every aspect of the game in the opener were unable to come up with the winning formula in Game 2. Despite putting up a brave fight, Jim Leyland and his men were unable to get the job done.
It will be interesting to see if the Tigers can learn from their mistakes to end the series on a bright note.
Twins, on the other hand, will be extremely happy with their performance in a game that was of great significance. Had they lost Game 2 on April 3, their fans would start to criticise them. However, it will be very important for the Twins to continue their
good work in the finale to give Tigers a taste of their own medicine.
"You lose the first game, and some people think the world is going to end," Twins’ manager Ron Gardenhire said. "But you get a lot of chances to win baseball games. ... You just have to keep playing, and that's what we did today. It's a big boost out there
to get a win under your belt against a great team over there. That was fun baseball."
"He hit it a lot better than I thought," Detroit center fielder Austin Jackson said. "I didn't think it was going out. I kept running, and it seemed like it kept carrying."
Tigers’ starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez who dominated the entire American League with some high quality pitching in 2012 showed just why he is considered one of the most dangerous players in the business as he allowed just two hits in five scoreless innings.
Striking-out batters at regular intervals, he kept Tigers in the contest until he was on the mound. With score tied at 2-2 in the ninth inning, the Tigers fancied their chances but closer Phil Coke had a horrible time on the mound as he gave up two hits and
the tie breaking run in the ninth.
