Detroit Tigers lose to Texas Rangers 4-10 – MLB news
Detroit Tigers were annihilated by the Texas rangers 4-10 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on Thursday, May 16 in the opening game of their four match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball regular season.
A lot of credit should be given to the Rangers’ pitching rotation for executing their game plan to perfection. The Ranger dominated the American League West Division for most part of the seas last year. However, when they were required to give consistent
results, the Rangers faltered.
However, with improved pitching and batting line-up, the Rangers are looking to make the most of available opportunities this year to claim the prestigious World Series title. It will be interesting to see if the Rangers can continue the good work in their
upcoming games to earn an important series victory against the inform Tigers.
“The thing about Yu Darvish, he bends but he never breaks,” Rangers manager Ron Washington said. “That's a tremendous lineup he went through. After that third inning, he settled in and found something that was working and he continued to pitch.”
“It wasn't much of a night to begin with but I'd definitely say the whole game kind of carry-over from my last start,” said Verlander, who was coming off his worst outing of the year in a loss to Cleveland. “I'm not somebody who is going to go home and pout
about this, I'm somebody who is going to figure it out and figure it out in a hurry.”
Tigers, on the other hand, will be extremely disappointed with their performance in a game that turned out to be completely one sided. Tigers’ pitching rotation played a ultimate price for their errors on the mound.
Starting pitcher and 2011 American League Most Valuable Player Award winner, Justin Verlander had one of the worst nights of his career as he allowed runs and six hits in just over two innings to take his fourth loss of the season.
The ongoing season is turning out to be a disaster for Verlander who has managed to clinch only four wins so far. Don Kelly, Victor Martinez and Torii Hunter made useful contributions with the bat but the night belonged to the Rangers.
