The Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland is currently in deep thoughts and trying to understand the late situation of Doug Fister’s injury with open eyes and also trying to see what options he has to replace him with an even talented player.
Fister, who endured a muscle strain in his left side, is now placed on disabled list by Tigers’ management in order to give him little rest before anything goes more complex. He is currently put on initial 15 days disabled list, but on the request of the
team doctors, the Tigers can extent this period to one month or more.
However, regarding Fister’s injury, the Tigers managers Jim Leyland seems much worried and still has no clue as who will be his replacement in the coming days.
Leyland said, "I have no idea who's going to start, don’t ask. Please. I have no clue. I just told you that. There's no sense searching. I have no clue, but you keep searching. I have no clue who's going to start. None. (Brayan) Villarreal has joined the
team and we will have a starter at the appropriate time. Who it is, I have no clue. None.”
He added, “Next question. But there's no information, I have no idea, it felt like I had a cramp in my side, I tried to throw the next one and just decided to shut it down.”
Fister is a good pitcher and was coming into this season with sheer confidence. His three years of Major League Baseball experience is certainly was picking up the pace for his game and for his team.
Fister, who came into the Detroit Tigers in 2011 from Seattle Mariners, possesses a career 3.49 ERA along with 20-31win loss record, 275 strikeouts and 1.18 WHIP.
Experts believe that this recent injury of Doug Fister is not a healthy sign for the Tigers. His recent display of fast and curving throws were witnessed by many during the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training as he almost made into the roster in the
final minutes when team the manager showed some enormous amount of confidence on him and announced his inclusion in the starting rotation.
