Detroit Tigers’ outfielder Torii Hunter looking to win World Series ring – MLB Update

According to a leading sports website, former Los Angeles Angels’ outfielder Torii Hunter wanted to be with the Detroit Tigers and he made that happen. Now he is looking to accomplish another big thing and that is to win the World Series title.
Hunter is an extremely experienced professional. He played 10 seasons for the Minnesota Twins before signing a contract with Los Angeles in 2007. In all those years, he was unable to claim the World Series crown.
Back in the American League Central Division, Hunter will have an excellent chance to make his dreams come true. As soon as the season ended, Hunter told his agent Larry Reynolds that he wanted to set up a meeting with the Tigers.
The 37-year-old outfielder thought he could find a place on Tigers’ roster as the teams’ right fielder and he was absolutely right. Once Hunter became a free agent, his agent notified the Tigers that Hunter was seriously interested in signing a deal with
them.
"Just looking at him and talking to him, I could tell he really wants to win that World Series," Hunter said. "I see that same fire. I can look at him and I feel it because I'm searching for the same thing. I really want to win the World Series, and he's
given me that great opportunity to win the World Series with the Detroit Tigers in 2013, and I want to say thank you Mr. I."
"I know talent," Hunter said. "I know what team wants to win, and I know what team is going to win, and I see the Tigers winning in 2013."
The Tigers also wanted someone like Hunter to improve their defence and solve their outfield issues. Tuesday last week, Hunter and Tigers’ officials met to discuss the contract possibilities. Shortly thereafter, Hunter tweeted that he had been offered a
two year $26 million contract. As both parties shared the same goals, the Tigers did not take long to make the deal official.
Hunter had a decent time on the plate with the Angels last season as he hit .313 with 16 home-runs and 92 RBI’s. It will be interesting to see if he can live up to the expectations in the next season to claim the World Series ring.
