Detroit Tigers’ pitching rotation makes them a dangerous side – MLB Detroit Tigers’ News
According to a leading sports website, Detroit Tigers’ pitching rotation is prepared for the playoffs challenge. Tigers were expected to make it to postseason with ease but that did not turn out be the case.
Jim Leyland and his men took more wounds than expected in getting to the playoffs but they still have a great chance of beating the Oakland Athletics to advance further. Tigers’ pitching rotation, in particular, can play a key role in helping Tigers cross
the final hurdle.
The journey to the playoffs has not been an easy one for the Tigers, who bounced back brilliantly in closing stages of the season. Showing great determination and ability to handle nerves, Tigers won majority of their games in last month of the season to
claim their second straight American League Central Division title.
Tigers’ ace Justin Verlander, who won the AL Most Valuable Player last season, will also be expected to up his game play to help Tigers find winning ways against the inform Athletics. With a 24-5 win-loss record and 250 strike-outs, Verlander looked on top
of his game-play the last season. However, things haven’t worked out for him the same way this year.
"I want to win a World Series, I don't care what I do personally," Verlander said."
"I just think postseason play is a crapshoot," Tigers’ manager Jim Leyland said. "Any team that gets in is dangerous. I don't know if dangerous is the right word for us, but I will say this — you feel pretty comfortable if you can run out, in any order,
Verlander, Scherzer, Fister, Sanchez. I think what catches the eye with our pitching is probably the Verlander scenario. But (Jarrod) Parker and (Tommy) Milone for the A's, they might not be talked about quite as much."
Skipper Leyland will also be expecting the likes of Drew Smyly, Doug Fister, Max Scherzer and Anibal Sanchez to step up and take on the responsibility. If Tigers can find a way to tie down Oakland’s batters, with their batting line-up, they will have an
absolutely great chance to ease past the A’s.
The Tigers will be looking to beat Oakland and move one-step closer to the World Series title.
