Detroit Tigers’ president Dave Dombrowski starts looking ahead for next season – MLB News
The Detroit Tiger’s president and general manager Dave Dombrowski has started to look ahead for the upcoming Major League season. Recently, at Comerica Park, he spoke to the media and showed his inner desire for the Tigers to come-up with some good results
in the 2012 season.
Dombrowski said, “I was amazed when I looked in the back, of course it was the wee hours, on the plane and a couple of flight attendants were walking ‘What are the guys doing back there?’ We had about 20 guys standing there. They said, ‘They're all talking
about what just place and about next year, that’s great.”
His comments also demonstrate a little shelter on the Detroit Tigers’ path for the current off-season. He is a great leader and team owner Mike Ilitch has always trusted him who is also expressing his desire and willingness to improve the roster.
Many speculations are also coming in the media as Jhonny Peralta will remain the short-stop for the next season and his trade is not on the cards at the moment. However, Dombrowski has taken a roundabout at minor changes in the roster with some new signings
which are yet to be announced.
On the other hand, the Tigers will certainly shake things up for further improvement and with a relatively weak free agent class this year they will not acquire any new player. Another issue that is still unsolved, the current financial issues in the Tigers’
franchise and in accordance to improve the roster structure, financials must be accredited to see what kind of talent they can afford to hire in the off-season.
Looking into the past season, the Tigers’ management and their expectations ran high for the team. Leading into the 2011 campaign, the Tigers were hyped as an early favourite to take control in the American League Championship Series, but they failed to
win against the Texas Rangers.
Now looking ahead to 2012, the Tigers still have many motives to be hopeful. The team is solid as expectations are high and so will be the enthusiasm of their loyal fans.
