Detroit Tigers relying on Miguel Cabrera – MLB News
Without a shadow of a doubt, Miguel Cabrera is one of the most dynamic and talented hitters in history of Major League Baseball. The hard hitting striker has given some incredible results since becoming a Major League Baseball professional. Not only is Cabrera one of the finest striker in the game but he also has this unique ability to play his natural game freely even in tense situations.
“He plays hard and has an idea of what he wants to do at the plate and he doesn't get fooled many times and has a nice approach,” All-time great Ken Griffey Jr said.
“Miguel’s constantly absorbing information—watching tapes, asking questions, paying close attention in the dugout,” Juan Pierre said.
It will not be wrong to say that he is one of the greats of the game. The six time All Star maker, Cabrera played a key role in Tigers’ American League Central division title winning campaign last season. Although the Tigers won the AL title, Cabrera was unable to take the Tigers to World Series glory on his own. Tigers General Manager Dave Dombrowski and Manager Jim Leyland made some crucial moves during the offseason to support Cabrera in hitting department of the game.
“He's a smart hitter who uses the whole field and is not trying to hit home runs all the time,” Hall of Famer Tony Perez commented.
“You can shake a tree and a lot of gloves will fall off, but few bats will. His bat is dangerous,” Matt Morris said.
Cabrera, who played first base for the Tigers since joining the Club, is expected to play third base this season. The 28 year old has been practicing hard since the start of Spring Training in an effort to become a successful third baseman. Cabrera was also hit on his face while playing third base a couple of weeks. According to sources Cabrera had to have stitches on his face to prevent the loss of blood. If the Tigers make it to the World Series this season, Cabrera will have a meaningful part to play for them.
