Detroit Tigers set their eyes on World Series title – MLB News
Detroit Tigers have spent millions of dollars this season to build a team capable of winning the World Series title. Last season, the Tigers cheered up their fans in an emphatic fashion as they won the American League Central title. However, Jim Leyland
and his men were unable to continue their impressive form in ALCS as they failed to reach the World Series championship.
Dave Dombrowski has taken huge steps to power the batting and pitching line-ups this season. With the addition of Prince Fielder, the Tigers are looking extremely threatening. Fielder, who signed a $214 million contract a few days ago, will be supported
by Miguel Cabrera.
Cabrera produced match winning performances for the Tigers’ last season. His batting average of .344 with 105 RBI’s and 30 home runs earned him the American League batting title in 2011. However, with Tigers-Fielder agreement, he will have even less pressure
to deal with now.
Fielder, on the other hand, is looking much focused. After signing the fourth largest contract in baseball history, he is looking to register his name in the list of all time greats. He has the ability to strike the ball hard. Furthermore, the big league
pitchers have struggled to work out a way to get him out cheaply. He hits the ball freely but at the same time he has control over his swing.  He will be looking to help his side reach the World Series.
"The thing I find interesting is that your impression is that he's taller than he is," Texas Rangers’ manager Nolan Ryan said on the phone from Texas. "So his strike zone is smaller. Anytime you have to pitch to a smaller strike zone, the challenges increase."
"I thought that obviously they feel they're in a position to win and they want to win whole thing," he further added. "They felt like that was probably the one player that could make the difference."
The Tigers will be relying heavily on these two players to achieve the World Series title. If Cabrera and Fielder can live to their immense potential, Dave Dombrowski’s team will be very hard to beat. Other teams are also aware of Tigers’ threat.
