Detroit Tigers still favourites to win next season – MLB News
Kansas City Royals and the Cleveland Indians have made some expensive and big moves this offseason in an effort to reclaim the American League Central Division crown. However, Jamie Samuelsen of free.com believes the Tigers are still the favourites to win
the next year’s World Series title.
By no means, the Tigers dominated the AL Central Division last season. They stumbled on their way and had to play out of their skins to reach the post season, thanks to a hot streak in closing stages of the season. The Tigers should also thanks the Chicago
White Sox, who were leading the standings table three weeks a week into October but vanished thereafter.
"When it finally game time to get things done, the Tigers were able to do it as evidenced by eight wins in their final 10 games against Chicago,” Jamie Samuelsen said in his post.
“And it’s not as if the Tigers are standing pat. They’ve already added veteran outfielder Torii Hunter who should be a massive upgrade in right field over Brennan Boesch and an obvious candidate to regularly bat second in the lineup ahead of Miguel Cabrera
and behind Austin Jackson,” he added.
Eventually, the Tigers won their division only by three games over the White Sox. Kansas City Royals, Cleveland Indians finished at the bottom o the table. However, next season it is going to be a complete different story as James Shields, Wade Davis, Drew
Stubbs and Trevor are in the AL Central division together for the first time and we can expect to see some nail biting encounters.
The Royals have not made it to the post season since 1985. A plenty of times, they had a team capable of winning the season but they could not do so. They will have to fight their own demons more than anything else. Surely, just like everything in the AL
Central for the last couple of years, this is not about other teams in the American League. It is more about the Tigers; a team desperate to win the World Series. As of now, none of the AL Central teams pose a serious threat to the Tigers.
