Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera seems eager to return – MLB Update
The Detroit Tigers talented third baseman Miguel Cabrera is yet to be given clearance by the doctors on his potential return to the field after his right eye got injured during a Spring Training game last week. However, Miguel seems confident and saying in
public that he is very hopeful and will be making a successful comeback on Opening Day.
Cabrera said in the media with much confidence, "I'll be ready for opening day. Don't worry. I'll be fine. There's no pain, and my vision is fine. When you’re able to rest your body and get a little break, you come in with a lot of energy. You’re feeling good.
So hopefully, it will be the same thing when I play again. I (wanted to) see if I did something wrong, so it doesn’t happen again. But I had nothing to do with that ball. I was in good position. I was right there.”
The Tigers’ management is also taking some precautionary measures if Miguel does not come on time for Opening Day. The Tigers’ manager Jim Leyland has already stated in the media as he has prepared two to three alternative line-ups if Cabrera had to rest for
initial games.
In the meanwhile, Despite getting injured during the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training, Cabrera however, still able to show some batting skills which impressed many. A nine-year veteran and former Miami Marlins’ player, Cabrera is a highly talented
player and knows his game well.
On the other hand, since he joined the Tigers roster, his game has reached another level. His career hitting average has improved as well as his OBP. Last year playing slight consistent, Cabrera went .344 at hitting along with 30 home runs, 105 RBIs and .448
OBP while his career hitting average is also consistent at .317 with 277 homers, 984 RBIs and .395 OBP.
Cabrera, who is considered one of the toughest players in the Tigers’ roster, is an essential individual for the team as well and his potential return will also be a quite relief factor for Detroit to achieve good results in the next season.
