Detroit Tigers tied with Philadelphia Phillies 4-4 at the Bright House Networks in Clearwater, Florida in their Grapefruit League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Sessions. The Phillies made the most of available opportunities on Sunday, March 11. Showing great composure and fighting spirit, the Phillies put up a valiant fight against a strong team as Detroit Tiger.
The Tigers, on the other hand, will be very disappointed with the outcome of the game. Despite dominating their rivals in at crucial situations, Jim Leyland and his men were unable to cross the finishing line. Cliff Lee was sensational for the Phillies as he played a key role in deciding the outcome of the game.
The left handed starter gave up three straight hits to begin the game, helping the Phillies take control of the contest. Ryan Raburn produced a magical performance in batting department of the game as he hit a two-run home run off Lee.
Lee bounced back strongly after Miguel Cabrera singled to sit down three batters and striking out two. The guy suffered from an abdominal injury early this spring season so he will be looking to bounce back strongly in the upcoming games to win back his fans’ hearts.
"Physically I felt fine. My location was a little off, but I threw strikes," Lee said. I got through it healthy. I'm building up endurance. I'm headed in the right direction. Early on you're not worried about results, you're more worried about feeling right, making sure you're headed in the right direction. I could definitely locate better. I feel like I will. It's just early. I'm a little rusty with a few things but that's normal, too."
"I was going out there trying to execute all my pitches," Porcello said. "I was missing with my slider early on, just wasn't getting on top of it."
Detroit Tigers, who won the American League Central title last season, have looked in commanding since the start of 2012 spring season. It will be interesting to see if they can continue their impressive form during the regular season to win this year’s World Series title.
