Detroit Tigers willing to trade starting pitcher Jacob Turner – MLB News
The Detroit Tigers are showing some great interest to indulge-in trade talks for their talented starting pitcher Jacob Turner to strengthen their own roster for the next season.
Some inside Major League Baseball sources have speculated in the media and some have confirmed that the Tigers are now willing to discuss trade talks with some potential MLB teams for their inexperienced starter Jacob Turner. Experts say that the Tigers
are willing to trade Jacob Turner because they now need a potential experienced starter for the next season.
Recently the Tigers’ management is pushing the Chicago Cubs hard to get involved with them for a potential deal for starter Matt Garza.
At this point both these objectives of the Tigers franchise are realistic but with very little time remaining on the trade deadline, the Tigers’ management has to make a viable decision with-in a few weeks.
Jacob Turner, who is considered one of the most talented players in the American League, certainly possesses some great throwing abilities and with these skills, any team will take him as a future prospect.
On the other hand, the Tigers want an experienced starter who will play alongside their ace pitcher Justin Verlander. The entire Tigers’ management knows that Verlander needs a backup player for more consistence performance in the next season. Trading Jacob
to another team will allow the Tigers to bring an experienced player for the next couple of seasons.
Jacob, playing with Tiger's double-A affiliate, the Erie SeaWolves, went with a 8.53 ERA along with 0-1 win-loss record, 8 strike-outs and a 1.66 WHIP last season as these stats will also attract many Major League teams. He might have not played very well
in his debut season with the Tigers’ farm system but still managed to stay consistent at 1.66 WHIP and inspired many with his first Minor League season.
Many say his presence in the Tigers’ Minor League roster for a longer period could have improved his game and also increased the Tigers winning chances in the future seasons. However, the late decision of Detroit to trade him might bring them little instability
in the long run. On the other hand, the next few days are certainly critical when Jacob Turner’s next destination will be decided.
