I'm a Tiger fan who loved Pudge. I also was a Farnsworth fan when he briefly played for Detroit in 2005. What is your feedback?

  1. The Yankees.

  2. I. Rod has proven his worth over and over again especially the way he took the Marlins on his back a few years ago(w/Beckett and D. Willis) before he got to Detroit.  I think his bat and his experience in catching pros like the Yanks have will prove that they got the better end of the deal.  The guy is intense to put it mildly!!!

  3. Who got the better deal? Neither. The yankees didn't need catching they had Jose Molina they needed a starting pitcher. If I had to choose it's the yankees but they didn't need him.

  4. Any team that GETS Kyle Farnsworth in a trade, automatically gets the worst end of the deal. He's a meathead.

  5. without a doubt the yankees as usual got the better player who in the world is kyle farnsworth? pudge is a awsome catcher not to mention he is hitting near 300. i thought only the lions made trades like this

  6. I'm also a Tigers fan and I liked Pudge, but I think that it was a good trade. The Tigers needs some better pitchers and plus Brandon Inge is a good catcher.

  7. i have a 6year old that started crying when he heard that pudge got traded. dont know which team just got better, i just hope i dont have to buy a yankee hat now. some things are sacred; baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and hatred of the yankees.

  8. the tigers got the better end of the deal because he was on the last year of his contract, they probably weren't gonna re sign him so at least they got some pitching, i personally think they need another starter instead of a releiver.  Pudge will always be my Tiger, unfortunately he'll go into the Hall of Fame as a stupid Yankee.  I'm gonna get a Pudge jersey when they go on sale then wear it to a tigers-yankees game and hold up a big sign that says "Pudge will always be a Tiger in Detroit" or something like that

  9. Could it really be more obvious? The Yanks got the better end of the deal, getting a 14-time All Star in Pudge.

  10. is this a trick question? its pudgy!!! yanks needed him and thats what they got. he is one of the best defensive catcher in the MLB and a back up of Molina? Im liking it. They needed it and thats what they got. Farnsworthless was doing nothing but costing the Yankees games, all they need now is a good 8th inning man or a starter in Washburn.

  11. Tigers made a stupid move for a pitcher that isn't that great anymore.  They could have gotten a much better reliever.

  12. It's hard to say.  Farnsworth has had an extremely solid year, and it's really hard to see him go.  The Yankees were given some heat for taking Joba out of the bullpen, but Kyle stepped up.  Now they're taking him out too, and while the Yankees did get Damaso Marte, AL hitters are different that NL hitters, so his effectiveness has yet to be seen.

Pudge Rodriguez is a battle tested first ballot hall of famer, but he's really old, especially for a catcher.  His offense will prvide the Yankees with a lift, but the actual catching is an issue.  Molina is better at throwing out runners, and Pudge doesn't yet know the pitchers.

Overall, I'd say the Tigers got the better deal.  They needed pitching and got it.  I don't necessarily think the Yankees needed Pudge.  Great addition, but Molina was doing just fine.  They could have settled for a lower profile mediocre catcher.   The bullpen has always been an issue in the non-championship years, and this move definitely didn't help.

  13. Yankees really needed Pudge, seeing as Posada won't be catching for the rest of the year.
