Detroit v. Chicago??????

Question

I hear that they are going to play each other in January but why at Wrigley? Wrigley is the worst place to play a hockey game. Of course all Cubs fans are going to agree it's better but don't you think that Soldier Field would be better? Right on the lake and some nice tough conditions for a cold azz whippin hockey game. I think Wrigley is not the right place to play. It wont look right. It would be perfect in Soldier Field.

It would be weird having a hockey game at a baseball field, but I'm not sure a football field is that much better. You could fit a lot more people into Soldier Field to watch the game, but think how far away some people would be sitting if the game sold out. Wrigley Field is smaller. But then again, you could fit a lot more people completely around the rink at Solider Field, especially if you put seats out on the grass.

Okay, so I've seen the Cubs at Wrigley Field and the Bears at Soldier Field, and I have to say that if I could get close enough tickets, I'd prefer the game to be in Soldier Field just because the more people at a hockey game the better and the closer I am to the ice the better. I don't think the game would be "perfect" on Soldier Field but it's probably a better choice than Wrigley. (Of course, being a UoM student, I'd rather have Detroit host Chicago at the Big House in Ann Arbor...)

ETA: the seating capacity of Wrigley is 41,118 while Soldier Field is 61,500.

Everyone outside of the Bears organization loves Wrigley Field. So if it happens at all, that will be the site. Besides, Soldier Field is too big. If you're halfway back, you'd not be able to see anything.

Wherd you hear this?  I think it'd be awesome... I love Wrigley Field... I heard a long time ago (a rumor) that the Wings and Rangers would play the very last game at Yankee Stadium... I read it in the paper so I thought it was credible.

I don't like what they did to Soldiers Field personally, it looks like c**p now.  (I am not a Wrigley fan either though).  But personally I don't care where they have the game, the Blackhawks are playing the Red Wings and it is in Chicago.

It's going to be great for the Blackhawks and the city.

The Wirtz family have been distributing Wrigley's products for years.  Peter Wirtz dated a Wrigley for years.  Wrigley's was also a large sponsor of the NHL and the Chicago Black Hawks through the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

I would have been very surprised if this game had been held anywhere else.

Soldier Field Because its greater Access to Public Transportation and Downtown Chicago, Plus Detroit Red Wings need to know play Outside in The Wintertime as well.

Wrigley would be more prestigious for the nhl and could hold more fans, but of course soldier field is a better place to play for other reasons.
