Deus Ex: Human Revolution finds Missing Link (DLC), Battlefield 3 gets Physical (Warfare DLC)
It seems both Electronic Arts’ yet to be released Battlefield 3 and Eidos’ stellar multiplatform title, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, are both set to get additional content with the announcement of their respective Downloadable Content packs (DLCs).
Starting things off in the futuristic world of human augmentation, as it seems Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be getting an augmentation of its own as its developer has finally confirmed that there will be an expansion to the blockbuster title. The adventure,
which is set to hit all platforms around October, will fill in one of the blanks from the game, i.e. the bit where Adam disappeared for several days.
The plot of the DLC is quite intriguing itself, as it reveals that the protagonist will lose his augmentations and apparently has to start from scratch, all the while being on an a freighter headed for an unknown destination.
According to the source, “After being tortured by Belltower agents and having his augmentations disabled, Adam Jensen must rely solely on his basic capabilities to escape from a freighter, destined for an unknown location. While fighting for his survival
on the ship, he uncovers another layer to the conspiracy that he never would have suspected.”
The move seems to add plenty of depth to the DLC, which are usually just short and simple affairs. Aptly titled ‘The Missing Link’, for which we give kudos to the marketing team, the DLC sounds like something Deus Ex fans should be looking forward to. However,
at the same time without a price for the digital download having been announced as yet, one should remain slightly cautious.
Moving on from the world of augmentation and onto the Battlefield, Battlefield 3 that is, it seems the game’s publishers have already decided the game needs a DLC, even before its release. There has been plenty of hype surrounding EA’s return to the classic
multiplayer first person shooter and how it will fare up against Activision’s unstoppable Call of Duty series, namely Modern Warfare 3 and it seems that the former plans on getting physical.
Only available on pre-order, though one can rest assured it will become available for purchase and download as we move away from the launch day, the pack will give players access to the Type 88 LMG (Light Machine Gun), the SKS Sniper Rifle’s suppressor and
armour piercing ammunition for the DAO-12 semi automatic shotgun. The shotgun itself is part of the Pre-order pack as well.
It seems EA were influenced by Nicola Cage’s Lord of War movie and the firm assumes that by supplying weapons, it will win more business.
