Deus Ex: Human Revolution sells 1.38-million copies in Europe, 800,000-units in North America
The latest figures from Square Enix, the publishers of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, have confirmed that the game has sold a total of 2.18-million units in Europe and North America since its release.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is the prequel to the Deus Ex games which gamers came to know and love on the previous generation of consoles and many had forgotten about it before Square Enix released one of the most cinematic trailers in video gaming history.
The trailer spread like wildfire in the gaming community and before long Deus Ex was on everyone’s lips.
When the game did finally release in August of this year, it topped the charts in the United Kingdom as gamers flocked in their thousands to buy themselves a copy of the highly anticipated return of the series.
Very few were left disappointed as the game managed to satisfy gamers and critics alike who praised Human Revolution for its presentation, story, visuals, attention to detail and an overall sublime gaming experience.
However, the sales figures seem to suggest that one region seemed to enjoy the augmentations more than the other as the majority of the sales for the action role-playing-game were made in Europe as opposed to its American cousin.
A total of 1.38-million copies were sold in Europe, while 800,000-units managed to change hands in North America. Usually AAA titles manage to sell equally well in both regions yet it seems the RPG element may have put a number of North American gamers off.
It must be noted that the figure of 2.18-units sold does not factor in the sales figures from Japan. Deus Ex: Human Revolution hit Japanese shelves in late October and no figure has been given by Square Enix on how the game fared in that region.
The game has also seen a DLC pack come out since its release with ‘The Missing Link’ released on the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the 18th of October. The DLC helped the game shift a few more copies and Deus Ex: Human Revolution
is still on the number nine spot in the PC video game sales chart in the United Kingdom.
Square Enix also revealed the sales figures for all its titles for the previous six months and it turns out that Human Revolution was the pick of the bunch. Dungeon Siege III and Dragon Quest 25th Anniversary Collection were miles behind with
820,000-units sold and 350,000-units sold respectively.
The question now remains whether or not Square Enix see enough potential to produce another game in the series. The signs are promising, yet one should be confident of seeing a number of DLC announcements in the weeks to come.
