Deus Ex problem jerky imposible to play?

when i install deus ex it has a lot of overwrite files messages and witch ever way i do do it (overwrite or not) when i play the game the menu background is jerky and in play its impossible to play its so jerky it cant be my computer because i have:

3.06GHz pentium 4

1GB RAM

256mb ati radeon 2400HD PRO AGP
