Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open 2012: Florentyna Parker fires 66 in the opening round to grab the second spot

English Florentyna Parker posted a stunning 66 in the first round of the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open 2012 to grab the second spot.
The tournament is being played at Golf Gerre Losone, Switzerland, with top-ranked LET (Ladies European Tour) stars in the roster.
Parker displayed a good performance right from the start, making the most of the favourable weather conditions. With modest winds sweeping through the course, players found it easy to make balanced strokes.
Rebecca Artis of Australia amazed the spectators by shooting her career-low 64. Artis grabbed an early lead on the leaderboard.
Analysts said that most of the top-ranked contenders, who were expected to rise to the top, displayed worse-than-expected performance. However, they pointed out that the match may take a dramatic turn in the next three rounds, with big names determined to
claw their way up to the top.
Parker started her round with plenty of confidence, as she fired her first birdie on the difficult par-3 2nd hole. She then parred the next two holes and stunned her fans by draining two back-to-back birdies on the par-4 5th and par-4
6th.
The English star received a big round of applause, as she reeled off another two straight birdies on the 8th and 9th hole. On the back nine, Parker could not maintain her performance. She recorded her sixth birdie.
Analysts said that Parker was the only player who gave a tough time to the first-round leader Artis. Speaking to the media, Parker said that she held her nerve on almost all the holes and grabbed the second spot.
The rising star said that she wanted to score at least seven under, so that she could grab a considerable lead over her rivals.
She went on to say that she was satisfied with her performance, and will try to keep the momentum going in the next three rounds.
“This morning I said to myself I wanted to shoot seven under. I shot seven under in my second round and that was my target. I started really well and five under after nine, then it went a bit slow but I birdied 16 and had two good chances coming in but missed
them,” Parker said.
